Tekno Single Student Desk

The Tekno single student desk is a contemporary school desk that stands apart from other single desks visually through its angular box profile frame. Produced under the code SR 14, it offers a 45×63 cm Werzalit or 45×65 cm CDF top and can be configured with or without a modesty panel. Its plain geometry makes it a frequent choice in school buildings with modern architecture and in renovated classrooms. The Tekno student desk family is produced in single and double frames; this page introduces the single-seat model.

Box profile frame and angular line

This model’s frame is produced from rectangular-section box profile rather than round tube. The difference is not only aesthetic: at the same wall thickness, box profile resists bending better than round profile, because the wide edge of the section sits perpendicular to the direction the load arrives from. Visually the desk reads as sharp-edged and composed; it speaks the same language as current classrooms fitted with interactive boards, metal cabinets and straight-lined furniture. The frame is finished in electrostatic powder coating and plastic glides are fitted to the leg ends.

Box profile has a concrete benefit on the maintenance side too. Flat surfaces take to wiping better than curved ones; the cloth meets the whole profile at the same pressure and no band of dirt builds up inside a curve. Because electrostatic powder coating cures hard in an oven, the surface closes as a single piece and behaves more robustly than liquid paint against daily contact from pens, erasers and bag buckles. In school furniture the difference the years make often shows up not in the material but in surface details like these.

With or without a panel? Two different ideas of a classroom

Tekno’s real decision at the ordering stage is the modesty panel. The panelled configuration closes off the front of the desk; the pupil’s seating position is not visible from outside and the classroom gives a tidy, composed impression. It is preferred especially in schools where parent visits and institutional presentation matter. The panel-free configuration leaves the underside completely open; the room feels visually airier, floor cleaning is quicker and stacking and carrying desks becomes easier.

There is no right or wrong between the two options; the decision concerns how the classroom is used. In rooms that change layout often and serve several purposes, panel-free works better; in rooms with a fixed layout and high presentational value, the panelled build does. Ordering both configurations for one school is also possible.

Werzalit and CDF top options

There are two options on the top side. The Werzalit top measures 45×63 cm; its wood-textured surface and rounded edges preserve the classic classroom feel. The CDF top measures 45×65 cm and has the characteristic black core edge; its high-pressure pressed structure is more resistant to moisture and scratching. The sharp line of the box profile frame and the black edge of CDF complement each other visually — if a contemporary look is the aim, this pairing comes to the fore.

Lightness in classroom layout

The greatest advantage of single desks is freedom of layout. Moving from the classic row arrangement to a U-shape, from an island layout to an examination arrangement, can be done in minutes by carrying desks individually. The panel-free configuration takes that flexibility a step further: the desk becomes lighter, is carried comfortably by one person and can be stacked at the side of the room when needed. For schools that teach on a project basis and make frequent room for group work, that practicality is a serious daily gain.

A frequently missed point in layout planning is the circulation distance between desks. Enough space must be left between rows so the teacher can move around the room comfortably and the aisle does not block during an evacuation. Single desks are advantageous here: because their depth is fixed, adjusting row spacing centimetre by centimetre is far easier than with double frames. Height by age group

The desk is produced in three height steps: primary, middle and high school. Choosing the right step is the foundation of ergonomics: the pupil’s feet should rest flat on the floor, elbows should sit level with the top and shoulders should not rise. The wrong height leads over time to poor posture and to the physical fatigue that makes concentrating harder. Frame and panel colours are chosen from the RAL chart, so production can match the school’s corporate identity. Some schools combine colour choice with the height steps: when each age group’s desks are a different colour, it is clear from a distance which room a moved desk belongs to, and end-of-year rearrangements speed up noticeably.

Quantity, top type, panel configuration, colour and height are set per order. We charge nothing for the survey; when you share your room dimensions and pupil numbers we assess together how many desks will fit and which layout will be more efficient. If you want to mix panelled and panel-free builds in one order, we can plan that on a per-unit basis too.

On the delivery side the transport charge appears as a separate line in the quotation; it is determined taking order volume and destination province into account and is not included in the product price. We ship across the country and to export projects.
