Dünya Teacher Lectern

The Dünya teacher lectern is a classroom lectern putting sturdiness and storage first, with its upright twin tube profile frame, Werzalit top and the book rack beneath the top. Upright twin profile frame

There are two vertical tube profiles on each side of the lectern, resting on the floor on a T-shaped skid base. On furniture used standing, frame geometry goes through a different test from furniture used seated: a person leans on the lectern, rests weight on it, grips and pulls it by an edge. Those forces carry a horizontal component and push the frame sideways.

The upright twin profile arrangement meets that push through two separate lines. When two thin profiles are used side by side instead of one thick profile, torsional resistance increases; when the frame tries to rotate under force from a corner, both profiles respond together. The T skid base, meanwhile, provides a broad bearing surface against the tipping moment.

Book rack and lesson material

The wire book rack beneath the top is this model’s standout feature. The lectern is the only piece of furniture beside a teacher who teaches standing all day; the textbook, the register, a spare marker, an eraser and the projector remote all have to go somewhere. Keeping them on the top occupies the surface and narrows the area needed for teaching.

The book rack moves that material beneath the top. The open texture of the wire keeps the contents visible — whether anything has been forgotten at the lectern is clear at a glance at the end of a lesson. Positioning the rack below knee level means the leg room of the person standing is not restricted.

Having storage at the lectern gains extra value in rooms without a teacher desk. In some schools only a lectern stands at the front of the room; the desk either does not exist or is in a different position. Werzalit top

The top is Werzalit. A lectern top sees different use from a teacher desk top: things are constantly put down and picked up, markers make direct contact, book pages rub across it. The closed structure of the Werzalit surface is resistant to those contacts and stains do not soak in. It is cleaned by wiping with a damp cloth.

The most frequently met wear mark on lectern tops is the stain left by board pens and markers. A pen left uncapped touches the surface throughout the lesson and can leave a mark over time. On closed-surface tops those marks can be removed with an alcohol-based cleaner; on porous surfaces they become permanent. We recommend adding the lectern top to your daily cleaning routine — a few seconds’ work keeps the top looking new for years.

Flat panel front

The front panel is produced as a flat panel. Compared with perforated sheet alternatives it gives a more closed and composed stance; what is beneath the lectern is hidden completely. Because the lectern stands at the very front of the room, that directly contributes to the space looking tidy. The panel also acts as a member connecting the frame and increases lateral rigidity.

Another benefit of a flat panel is visual rather than acoustic simplicity. Perforated surfaces draw attention with their texture when seen up close; a flat panel stays in the background. In an area at the front of the room already holding a board, an interactive board and maps, adding one more texture can increase visual clutter. Consistency with classroom furniture

This lectern’s upright twin profile frame forms a visual family with the student desks and teacher desk using the same geometry. The pursuit of consistency is not compulsory for every school. In buildings undergoing phased renewal, different frame families can coexist in different rooms, and that creates no problem as long as consistency is preserved within each space. What matters is that a single classroom is internally harmonious; arrangements varying from room to room along a corridor are far less jarring than arrangements mixed within one room.

Ordering and delivery

Top colour, frame and panel colour and quantity are determined on the order. The lectern is usually bought together with the teacher desk; choosing both from the same frame family gives a consistent appearance at the front of the room. The survey is free of charge. The transport charge is shown on a separate line in the quotation and is set by shipment volume and delivery point; it is not added to the product price. Because no installation is required, lecterns can be put to use on the day they are delivered.

On lectern orders most schools start with a few classrooms and complete the rest once they are satisfied with the result. The only disadvantage of that phased approach is colour consistency: small differences in paint and panel tone can occur between batches produced at different times.
