Product Description

The Elips single student desk differs structurally from the other single models on this site: desk and seat are combined on one frame. The chair is not a separate piece; seat and backrest are attached to the desk’s oval profile skeleton. Produced under the code SR 42, this unit offers Werzalit, PPC or upholstered options for the seat and backrest. It is designed for institutions that want the classroom layout to stay fixed and do not want to deal with collecting chairs every morning. The Elips student desk family is produced as single and double units; here we cover the single-seat one.

Desk and seat on one frame: what does it gain you?

The most concrete benefit of a combined unit is that order maintains itself. Separate chairs slide, turn and drift away from the desk during the day; at the end of a lesson the room looks untidy and cleaning staff gather chairs every evening. On a combined frame the seat sits at a fixed distance from the desk — the room is found in the morning exactly as it was left.

The second benefit is safety. On separate chairs, pupils leaning back and rocking on two legs is a common cause of accidents; on a combined frame that movement is not possible. The third is ease of moving: because desk and seat are one piece, changing the classroom layout means moving a single unit rather than two separate objects.

Seat and backrest: Werzalit, PPC or upholstered

The seating surface can be chosen in three different materials. The Werzalit seat and backrest is produced from the same material as the top; it is hard, durable and provides a single-colour consistency, and it is the easiest option to clean. The PPC (plastic) seat offers a more flexible surface, can be shaped to follow body contours and has the widest colour choice. The upholstered seat gives the highest comfort with fabric over foam; it suits study halls and examination centres where sitting periods are long.

The choice depends largely on daily sitting time. For forty-minute lesson blocks Werzalit or PPC is sufficient; in environments where a pupil works in the same place for hours, the upholstered option makes a marked difference.

The first question that comes to mind with combined units is usually this: if the seat wears out over time, does the whole unit have to be replaced? It does not. Seat and backrest are screw-mounted to the frame; the worn part can be removed and replaced while the skeleton stays in place. This is a detail that directly affects long-term cost — particularly with the upholstered option, where the fabric surface is expected to have a shorter life than the metal skeleton. So that we can meet your spare-parts needs years later too, we recommend keeping the product code and order date.

Oval profile frame and skid foot

The oval profile the model takes its name from is used throughout the frame. An oval section combines the soft touch of round profile with the directional resistance of rectangular profile: wider on the axis the load arrives from, and free of sharp corners on the surfaces that are touched. The frame meets the floor on a skid foot with wide plastic glides at the ends; this structure both spreads the load over a broad area of floor and prevents the floor being scratched when the unit is moved. All metal surfaces are finished in electrostatic powder coating and colours are chosen from the RAL chart.

Werzalit top and wire book rack

The working top is 45×63 cm Werzalit. Beneath it sits a wire book rack; the pupil’s daily notebooks and books go there and the working surface stays clear all day. Thanks to the open texture of the wire structure the contents stay visible and no enclosed volume forms where dust collects.

On combined units the distance between top and seat is fixed at the factory. This removes a problem often seen with separate-chair arrangements: the pupil either pulling the chair too close and pressing their chest against the top, or pushing it too far back and leaning forward to write. When the correct height step is chosen, the fixed distance keeps the pupil in a balanced posture all day. For that reason step selection is a more critical decision on combined units than on models with separate chairs.

Which classrooms is it preferred in?

Combined units work most efficiently in environments where the classroom layout does not change during the day: classic classrooms, study halls, examination centres and tutoring rooms. By contrast, in rooms that move often into group work and join tables into island layouts, models with separate chairs are more flexible. Share how your classroom works and we can assess together which build suits you. The unit is produced in three height steps: primary, middle and high school. Where the height spread within one class is wide, mixing two steps gives a better result than insisting on one.

Quotation, delivery and installation

Quantity, seat material, colour and height step are set per order. Our survey service is free of charge; when you share your room dimensions and pupil numbers we produce your quotation together with a plan proposal showing at what spacing the units will sit. Because the total depth of combined units differs from separate-chair arrangements, we recommend not skipping this layout work.

The transport charge appears as a separate item in the quotation; it is calculated according to order volume and destination province and is not included in the product price. We ship to every point in the country and to export projects. We clarify your installation requirement before the order and write it explicitly in the quotation, so you do not meet a surprise item on delivery day.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the chair come separately, or is it attached to the desk?

On this model the seat and backrest are attached to the desk frame; desk and seat are produced as a single unit. You do not need to buy a separate chair. Institutions that want the classroom layout to maintain itself prefer this structure.

How should we choose between the Werzalit, PPC and upholstered seat?

Look at daily sitting time. For forty-minute lesson blocks Werzalit or PPC is sufficient; Werzalit is the easiest to clean and PPC has the widest colour choice. In study and examination environments where a pupil works in the same place for hours, an upholstered seat makes a marked difference in comfort.

Does a combined unit make it harder to change the classroom layout?

It is an advantage in fixed-layout rooms and a disadvantage in rooms that change layout often. The unit moves as one piece, which makes carrying easier, but it is not as suited to joining tables into an island layout as models with separate chairs. Share how your classroom works and we will determine the right model together.

What does oval profile mean and what is its advantage?

The section of the frame is oval. This section combines the corner-free, soft contact surface of round profile with the directional resistance of rectangular profile: wider on the axis the load arrives from, and free of sharp corners on the surfaces the pupil touches.

Which age groups is it produced for?

It is produced in three height steps: primary, middle and high school. Choosing the right step matters even more on combined units, because the seat height is fixed together with the top. Share the age distribution of your classes and we will determine the suitable steps together.

Can we choose the colour?

Yes. Frame and panel colours are chosen from the RAL chart; the seat and backrest colour options also vary with the seat material. The PPC seat offers the widest colour range.

How do delivery and installation work?

We serve the whole of Türkiye and export markets. Transport cost is determined by order volume and destination province and added to the quotation separately; it is not included in the price. The project survey is free of charge. We clarify your installation requirement before the order and state it explicitly in the quotation.
