Product Description
The student music table is the overlooked part of the music room in most schools. Lessons are often taught by pushing desks to the walls and clearing the middle; yet reading notation, rhythm practice and theory lessons all need a proper working surface. Produced by Sırasan under code MM 01, this table offers a 50×70 cm surface on which a music notebook, a recorder or melodica, and a textbook can sit at the same time.
What a music room actually needs
A music lesson requires two different layouts: students sit at tables for theory and notation, and the middle of the room must be cleared for practice and choir work. The single most critical property of a music table is therefore that it is easy to move. Produced as singles with a light frame, these tables can be pulled to the walls within a few minutes and brought back when the practice ends.
The second requirement is surface width. An open music notebook takes up roughly 40×60 cm; add a recorder, a melodica or a percussion instrument and a standard 45×63 cm classroom desk is no longer enough. The 50×70 cm top allows both objects to sit side by side.
50×70 cm melamine top
The top is produced in 50×70 cm melamine. Edges are sealed with PVC banding, which both protects the corners against impact and slows the scratching caused by instrument hardware. A matt finish is recommended — glossy tops reflect the ceiling lighting onto the score and make the staff lines harder to read.
The melamine surface wipes clean and does not stain. In a music room the top mostly encounters instrument contact and moisture; in classes working with wind instruments, moisture on the surface is normal, and melamine handles that use without difficulty.
Electrostatic powder-coated frame
The frame is made from steel profile and finished with electrostatic powder coating. Because the coating is oven-cured and bonded to the metal, it does not flake on impact and does not dull over time. In a music room, where tables are moved constantly, frame impact resistance matters more than it does for static classroom furniture.
Colour is chosen from the RAL chart. The impact-absorbing plastic glides on the feet protect the floor and — particularly important in a music room — reduce the friction noise made when a table is pulled.
Layout and acoustics
Music tables are usually arranged in a U shape or a semi-circle, so that every student can see the teacher and one another, which makes rhythm and choir work easier to keep in time. The space left in the middle serves as the practice area.
Acoustically, hard empty surfaces reflect sound. Tables distributed through the room break that reflection to some degree; a room whose furniture is pushed entirely to the walls, leaving the centre empty, is more reverberant. We take this into account when planning the layout.
Instrument and material storage
Just as important as the table is where instruments will be kept. Recorders, percussion instruments and score books need a lockable material cabinet; larger instruments such as keyboards and guitars need dedicated wall space. Table layout should not block access to these storage points.

The tilting top: what it changes for reading notation
The defining feature of this table for a music room is its tilting top. The rear half lifts, angling the music notebook towards the student. On a flat table the score lies horizontal and the student leans forward constantly to read the staff lines; that creates neck fatigue and disturbs the way the instrument is held.
A tilting top brings the score closer to eye level, so the student can see both the notation and the teacher without raising their head. When working with recorders, melodicas and percussion instruments, that difference feeds directly into playing quality.
When the top is raised, the fixed section beneath it stays horizontal — the instrument and pencil sit there and do not slide off the angled surface. The shelf under the top is for score books and lesson material. For theory lessons or written tests the top is closed and the table is used as a normal flat surface.

Does the noise of moving tables disrupt the lesson?
The impact-absorbing plastic glides on the feet exist precisely for this: they do not scratch the floor and noticeably reduce friction noise. Because tables are moved frequently in a music room, this detail matters more here than in other classrooms.
